Smarter, Stronger, and Built for the Next Generation of Power - Eco Battery Gen 3

The latest evolution in battery technology is here. Designed by the expert product team over at Eco, the Gen3 Eco Battery delivers cutting-edge features and enhanced performance. Whether you’re upgrading aftermarket carts or receiving them factory-installed in new OEM models, here are some key updates around this product to ensure a seamless experience for golf cart owners.

Now that the Eco Battery Gen 3 line up is officially out, electric golf cart owners are asking themselves if now is the right time to upgrade to lithium. Lets go over some of the new features, compatibility, upgrades and what the new Eco Battery Gen 3 can do for you. As lithium battery experts, we’re happy to recommend the new Eco Battery Gen 3 sets as some of our favorites for upgrades on various carts including EZ GO, Par Car and many more.

New to Eco Battery Gen 3

1. Power Button

  • New momentary switch – does not stay depressed when pushed.
  • Hold for 3 seconds to power off.
  • Power button will blink in the event of any BMS fault issues.

 

2. Canalyst Tool (Gen2 Only)

  • Do not use the Canalyst tool on Gen3 batteries.
  • Use the Eco Battery mobile app for firmware updates and BMS changes. If you’ve purchased an Eco Battery Gen 3, or intend to, you’ll want to make sure you have the Eco Battery app on your smart phone.
  • EB Power Tech Tool is still used for cart controller, screen, etc.

3. How to Change CAN Protocol if Required

  • Some carts may require a CAN protocol change from the default.
  • Use the Eco Battery app under the Settings tab to make this change.
  • Only needed for Denago and Pilot Car installs.

5. Battery Registration

  • Must be registered within 60 days to activate 10-year warranty. You do not wanty to miss your warranty registration window, the process is quick and painless.
  • You can register your battery yourself, or ask your dealer (that’s us, BEST Battery) to do it for you.

6. New Comm Port

  • New 7-pin port supports a Remote Wake-Up Button.
  • Lets you wake the battery without lifting the seat.
  • Note: Does not power off battery — only wakes it from sleep mode.
  • Included in all new Gen3 bundles.

 

7. How to Send BMS Logs

  • Logs are collected when battery is connected to the Eco Battery App.
  • More time connected = more diagnostic data.
  • Use “Send BMS Logs” button in the app to submit to support.
 

8. Parallel Setups

  • We do not recommend mixing Gen2 and Gen3 batteries in parallel. They are, for all intents and purposes, incompatible. 

Tips and Advice from an Authorized Eco Battery Dealer

As far as changes to installations go, things have never been easier, and the new port-side lineup of the battery puts all your connections together in a convenient location. The only thing that’s different (and will look new on the outside) is the extra cable setup for the new 24hr sleep mode button. This is a welcome addition, circumventing the necessity to otherwise lift up the seat and activate it on the battery.
