If you own an Evolution D5 (Maverick or Ranger), or the heavy-duty DMAX, you already know these carts are some of the sleekest, most tech-forward rides on the market. From the touchscreen to the automotive-level suspension, they feel more like a small electric vehicle than a traditional golf cart.
However, many owners quickly discover a bottleneck in their experience: the factory battery range doesn’t always go the distance, especially if you’ve added big tires, sound systems, or carry a full load of passengers. Furthermore, because Evolution uses a proprietary CANbus restriction, customers were locked into the Evolution-branded batteries, hoping for a larger battery offering.
Well…
We are thrilled to announce that Eco Battery has released a fully integrated CANbus solution designed specifically for the Evolution D5/DMAX platforms. This isn’t just a generic battery swap; it is an engineered upgrade that allows customers to add up to a maximum of 10.8kWh of high-quality LiFePO4 batteries, by the most reputable name in the industry.
To understand why this is such a breakthrough, you have to look under the “hood.” Evolution D5/DMAX carts are built with a sophisticated CAN bus communication system. In simple terms, the battery, controller, and the digital dashboard are all “talking” to each other in a proprietary language.
In the past, if you tried to drop a standard 48V lithium battery into a Evolution D5/DMAX, the cart would be stuck in limp mode. This was the issue preventing higher quality aftermarket retrofits from working for some time.
The Eco Battery Evolution Kit solves this entirely. It includes a dedicated CANbus adapter that allows the Eco Battery to integrate perfectly. This means seamless integration with your factory dash/state-of-charge meter work exactly like they did on day one.

When we talk about “upgrading,” we’re usually looking for three things: more miles, more power, and seamless integration for your Evolution D5/DMAX.
The factory battery in some Evolution D5/DMAX’s is adequate for a round of golf plus some. But for those using their carts as “neighborhood electric vehicles” (NEVs), that 30–40 mile limit can be stressful. By installing a high-capacity Eco Battery (like the Dual 105Ah or 160Ah variants), you can 1.5x to 2.0x your existing range. Whether it’s a long day at the beach or a full weekend at the campground, you won’t experience range-anxiety.
The Eco Battery smartphone app acts as a comprehensive digital dashboard, providing real-time visibility into your battery’s health through precise diagnostic data like individual cell voltages, temperature, and state of charge. This transparency allows you to preemptively address potential issues before they lead to downtime, while the integrated BMS logging feature streamlines technical support by sending performance history directly to experts. Most importantly, the app ensures your hardware stays future-proof via Bluetooth firmware updates, allowing you to download the latest safety protocols and performance optimizations directly to your battery without needing a physical service visit.
3. Maintaining Your Factory Audio Capabilities
To ensure your Evolution D5/DMAX keeps its premium audio quality after the upgrade, we utilize specialized low-profile speakers designed to maintain a high-fidelity soundstage even with the space restrictions of a larger battery. While the massive 210Ah Eco Battery setup takes up significantly more room, we refuse to sacrifice your factory audio experience for the sake of power. By integrating these slim-mount components, we achieve a precision fit that retains the original aesthetic and sound of your D5/DMAX, proving that you can have the longest range in the nation without losing the “thump” of your favorite playlist.
When you upgrade with Eco Battery, you aren’t just buying a battery; you’re investing in a Lifetime Warranty that sets a new industry benchmark for security. While the “Gold Standard” in the lithium world used to be 5 or 8 years, Eco Battery has raised the bar by offering 6 years of full coverage—meaning 100% repair or replacement for any manufacturer defects—followed by a prorated discount schedule that protects your investment for the entire life of your cart. This unprecedented level of support isn’t just a marketing gimmick; it reflects their use of Grade A LiFePO4 cells and an advanced BMS that shields your system from overcharging and extreme temperatures. Ultimately, this is likely the last battery you will ever need to buy, driving your annual cost of ownership incredibly low compared to the cycle of replacing lead-acid packs every few years.
While big-name dealers make excuses, BEST Battery Team makes history. We were the first small custom shop in the nation to successfully install the massive 210Ah Eco Battery setup in both the Evolution D5 and Evolution DMAX. While others refuse these complex electrical architectures, we’ve mastered the integration, proving you don’t need a corporate showroom to deliver world-class engineering. We handle the high-voltage systems and precision CAN bus calibration so your $15,000+ investment performs exactly as it should.
We don’t expect you to take our word for it—we believe in total transparency. We document our builds and share the proof of our work constantly on our Facebook page. For a Evolution D5/DMAX, a professional installation at Best Battery typically takes 6–8 hours, or possibly less depending on the project. This includes the physical mounting, wiring, and a full system test to ensure the communication with your dash is perfect.
“Budget” lithium batteries lack CANbus support, meaning your Evolution D5/DMAX dash won’t work. Furthermore, cheap batteries often use “Grade B” cells and have shorter lifespans with insufficient output specs. With Eco Battery, you are paying for the proprietary integration and the best support and warranty in the industry.
Range varies based on terrain, passenger weight, and speed. However, most users in a Evolution D5/DMAX with a 105Ah Eco Battery report between 30–40 miles, while the 160Ah version can push 45–55+ miles on a single charge. The largest 210Ah setup will provide around 65-75 miles.
