Upgrade Your MadJax Ascent To the 210Ah Bolt Package

Quick Breakdown

210Ah Examples

The MadJax Ascent, engineered by Nivel Parts & Manufacturing, has officially arrived in The Villages, and it is a game changer for 4 forward facing luxury. With its automotive styling and robust 6.3kw Reliance AC motor, it is built to impress. However, there is a reality that the big corporate dealers won’t talk about: the standard 160Ah battery simply does not provide enough range for the way people actually live and drive in this community. We are the premier custom specialists who have been selling and installing Bolt Energy Lithium for the last 3-years.  The standard for true, 100%, peace-of-mind, is 51V – 210Ah.  No range anxiety when you want to bring the whole family on a Villages excursion!  That is the standard we aim for.  See a few examples of our installations (many featured in the manufacturer’s marketing materials).  We have performed this upgrade more times than we can count, and the MadJax Ascent is a cart that is ripe for a perfect, max-range upgrade like this.

Upgrading to Max Range - Dual 105Ah [210Ah] !

Here is a reality most dealers won’t admit… the range estimates on these carts can be all over the place. Passenger count, weight of those passengers, ambient temperature, terrain elevation, throttle response, powertrain efficiency, 12V accessories, and MORE, affect your overall driving range. The numbers we provide are accurate, yet conservative so you can truly understand WHAT IS YOUR ESTIMATED TOTAL MILEAGE.

While the new MadJax Ascent by Nivel Parts & Manufacturing is a high-tech marvel, its 6.3kw Reliance AC motor and 4-forward-facing configuration pull a massive amount of energy similar to nearly every other 4-FWD on the market.

We have found with our customer’s on similar 4-FWD models, that even the factory 160Ah setup often falls short when you are pushing for speeds beyond 24mph or trekking across the expansive golfing landscape of The Villages. To ensure you have ZERO range anxiety (additional 12-15 miles of range) and true peace of mind, we have perfected the move to the higher 210Ah Bolt Energy Lithium setup. Here is how the 210Ah Kings do it right.

1. Remove Existing 105/160Ah Battery

The first job is removing the factory-Bolt 160Ah battery.

  • Safety First: Turn off the factory-160Ah by holding the power button for 8-seconds.  The green-ring should not be illuminated to indicate there is no power at the terminals.  Disconnect the batteries, making sure to label all wires and connections.
  • Undo Hardware:  Undo necessary body panels/hardware so the battery is free to be lifted out.
  • Remove 160Ah: These batteries are not lightweight.  It is recommended to have a 2nd person, or engine-lift/hoist to remove the 160Ah battery.

2. Map Out new Dual-105Ah Setup

The Bolt 105Ah ‘Mini’ units are designed to fit the most compact spaces in carts.  To fit two of them in this cart, you’ll want to ensure your mounting holes and wiring are mapped and routed before any drilling is done.  This is one of the most important parts, or you will end up re-measuring more than you’d like to, in order to squeeze two batteries in there.

Once you’ve measured and marked your holes, drill them out and use appropriate mounting hardware to secure the batteries directly to the base.

Drop the new 105Ah batteries and insert your mounting hardware.  Tighten your selected mounting bolts down and check the integrity of the hardware.

3. Critical Power Wiring and SOC Integration

The Bolt Energy batteries communicate with the factory touchscreen display via CANbus.  You will want to ensure that one of the two new 105Ah batteries is plugged in so the cart is reading the state-of-charge accurately.  The SOC% will be within +/- 1% of true SOC when reading off of the one battery, as both units will discharge/charge at the same rate when wired in parallel.

The onboard charger is already a Bolt-Energy brand, and will not need to be replaced for this setup.  HOWEVER, you will need to prepare parallel jumper power cables.  We recommend 2AWG for these, and no longer that 14″ is required.  Depending on the length of the existing main (B+) and (B-), you may feel inclined to make a new 2AWG cable so you have enough lenght to reach the terminals.  We run a new (B+) straight to the main positive fuse where the factory cable was.  Otherwise, you are replicating the setup from the 160Ah, and simply wiring the two in parallel with your new 4AWG cables (can be ordered from Best Battery).

During The Conversion

Why Upgrade from a 105/160Ah, to a 210Ah?

1. Improved Real-World Range

Based on our conservative installer experience, the 210Ah setup delivers a reliable 55 to 65 miles of range, a significant jump over the 40 to 50 miles typically seen with a 160Ah pack. This extra capacity ensures you can navigate the entire Villages trail system with total peace of mind, backed by an 11 year warranty and a 4,000+ cycle rating.

2. Massive Power Delivery

Upgrading to this configuration provides a staggering 500A continuous output, giving your 6.3kw Reliance AC motor more than enough “juice” for any situation. While you may never fully utilize all 500A in daily driving, it is a massive performance overhead that is perfect for bragging to your neighbors—especially if you ever decide to “turn it up” beyond the factory limits!

3. Redundancy and Efficiency of Parallel Packs

By running two 105Ah batteries in parallel to reach 210Ah, you gain a level of “limp home” redundancy that a single 160Ah pack can’t offer. Furthermore, splitting the workload across two internal BMS units allows the batteries to run cooler and more efficiently, extending the overall life of the cells while easily handling the high-amp spikes of the MadJax Ascent.
